Om Shanti Om - is a Bollywood movie. It was released on October 24 2007. The film is a sequel to the blockbuster 2003 romantic drama Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, and was one of the most expensive Indian films ever made at the time of its release, grossing over Rs. 450 million (US$7 million) in its first week alone. Om Shanti Om has been nominated for more than 20 awards at various award ceremonies around the world, from Chennai to Los Angeles. In 2009 it won three National Film Awards: Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design. Based on a book by director Shashanka Ghosh, the movie begins with a note from directer Farah Khan that the film is based on a rumor that actor Om Prakash was not in fact dead but living as a poor man named Kishen who happens to look exactly like him. The film then cuts back to the 1970s when Om Prakash (Shah Rukh Khan) is a small-time actor struggling to make ends meet. During one acting engagement, he meets Ali (Arshad Warsi), a photographer's assistant who falls in love with him upon seeing his picture and offers to help him achieve stardom. Ali convinces Om Prakash to join his uncle, Kishore (Aditya Pancholi), an agent who has a reputation for getting his clients the best offers. Kishen takes the stage name Omi and becomes a famous stage actor, making films under Kishore's banner. Meanwhile in the present, Om Prakash's daughter Rohini (Kajal Aggarwal) is a struggling actress in Delhi. She gets a chance to work with Om Prakash in Mumbai and is shocked when he shows up as her father in person rather than on film. She wants to reveal the truth to her co-workers, but Om Prakash advises her not to as he wants to keep his past a secret. Rohini loses this chance when her jealous boyfriend Rana (Ranveer Singh) ransacks Om Prakash's house and ruins his pictures and film reels. Om Prakash then takes refuge in the home of his film costar and love interest from 20 years ago, Mehboob (Deepika Padukone). She introduces him as Kishen to their two children: Tina (Isha Koppikar) and photographer Raj (Ritesh Deshmukh). Raj falls in love with Rohini, who returns his feelings. Kishen goes back to Kishore for help, but the agent wants money in exchange for getting Rohini into acting school. Kishen confronts Ali, who agrees to his terms. He wants to reveal to everyone the truth behind his past, but is unsure how to do it. The movie climax takes place on the night of one of Rohini's shows at the same stage where she first met Omi 20 years ago. Kishen finally reveals his true identity and tries to make amends with Rohini. cfa1e77820
